STROKE GAINED

We’re golfers who got tired of losing context between lessons.

Stroke Gained started with a simple frustration: why does everything I work on with my coach disappear the moment I leave the lesson? Why can’t my practice sessions, swing videos, and round data all live in one place that actually helps me get better?

The Problem We Set Out to Solve

If you’ve ever taken a golf lesson, you know the feeling. Your coach gives you three things to work on. You nod, maybe jot them down in your phone. Then you go to the range two days later and half of it is already fuzzy. By your next lesson, you’re starting from scratch.

Meanwhile, you’ve got one app tracking your rounds, another for swing videos, a spreadsheet for your distances, and a group chat where your buddy sends you YouTube tips that contradict what your coach said. None of it talks to each other. None of it remembers what you were working on last week.

We built Stroke Gained because we believe golf coaching should work like the best professional relationships — continuous, data-informed, and built on trust. Not a tip here and a video there. We work with PGA-certified coaches and local golf shops because we believe the best golf instruction happens in person — and our job is to make sure that instruction carries forward between sessions.

The result is a platform that connects your swing analysis, round tracking, practice drills, and coach feedback in a single ecosystem. When your coach assigns a drill, you see it in the app. When you record a swing on the range, your coach can review it before your next lesson. When you play a round, your strokes gained data feeds back into your practice plan so you know exactly what to work on next.

What Makes Stroke Gained Different

Most golf apps give you data. We give you direction. Stroke Gained uses AI-powered swing analysis that is grounded in real biomechanics research from the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI), TrackMan university studies, and HackMotion wrist dynamics data. We don’t guess at what’s happening in your swing. We reference the same kinematic sequences, club delivery patterns, and movement screens that top-tier coaches use with tour players.

Our strokes gained analytics go beyond just telling you that your approach game lost you 2.3 shots. We break it down by distance bucket, lie type, and shot pattern so you can see exactly where those strokes are going and build a practice plan around it. It is the same strokes gained methodology that Mark Broadie pioneered at Columbia University, made accessible for everyday golfers.

We also built Stroke Gained to work with your coach, not around them. Coaches get their own dashboard where they can review swing videos, assign drills, track student progress, and communicate between lessons. The AI never overrides a coach’s recommendation. It surfaces insights, and the coach decides how to use them.

And because we know golfers are skeptical of black-box AI (as they should be), every analysis includes citations to the specific research that backs it. You can see exactly why the system flagged your early extension or your wrist angle at the top. No magic, no mystery, just science.

What We Believe

These principles guide every feature we build and every decision we make. If something doesn’t align with these values, it doesn’t ship.

Coach-first, always.

The coach’s expertise drives every recommendation. AI assists — never overrides. We believe the best instruction happens between a golfer and their coach, and technology should amplify that relationship, not replace it.

Clarity over complexity.

If a feature doesn’t make coaching clearer, we don’t build it. Golf already has too many numbers and opinions. We surface only the insights that help you take action on the range or the course.

Earned trust.

We don’t claim results we can’t support. Every analysis is backed by published biomechanics research from TPI, TrackMan, and HackMotion. We show the science, and let coaches and golfers decide.

A Small Team of Golfers and Engineers

Stroke Gained is not backed by a faceless corporation. It is built by a small, passionate team that plays golf, tests every feature on the course, and reads every piece of feedback that comes in.

Tech on the Tee is where we document everything — golf tech breakdowns, AI swing analysis demos, equipment reviews, course vlogs, and behind-the-scenes product development. Every video is filmed on the course and at the range, testing real gear and real features with real golfers. It is the most transparent way to see what we are building and why.
